Joan was sitting at her kitchen table wondering what she could make for the potluck lunch that her and her coworkers were going to have the following day. As she pondered for several minutes, she came up with fried rice, carrots, and peas. While looking for her rice in her cupboards, Joan remembered the potluck was supposed to be healthy. Joan found there wasn’t any brown rice, only white. Joan didn’t feel like going to the grocery for only a bag of rice. Soon Joan remembered that parboiled white rice has almost the same nutritional value as brown rice. After Joan parboiled the rice, she thew it and the other ingredients into the wok and fried it all up. Later the next day, everyone commented and loved her potluck dish.
